September Recap and September Sequel Results

This month was Sequel September!

I needed to read 5 sequels, but I set the absurd goal of 20. I made it! EEK!!!

I read a lot at night instead of watching the tellie, and listened to audiobooks while I did some of my work. It was a productive month!

Here are the numbers:
Sequels: 21
Here is how I did: 38

Favorite books: The Hazards of Mistletoe, Shadow of the Mark, Salvaged Soul, Touching Fate, Fangs for the Memories, Courted, Darkest Dawn, The Dark Ones and Forever Isn't Enough.

The Books I could have done without: Shattered Promises, Menagerie, Endlessly, Reckoning and Nocte.

Books I read that were last books in the series or trilogy: Reckoning, The Ruby Circle, Finale, Endlessly, Last Rite, and Daylighters. I'm really glad to be done with some of these, and others I was sad for the end.

Favorite Author this Month: Alyssa Rose Ivy

Waiting on Wednesday #14

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Book:  The Syndicate (Timewaves #1)

Author:  Sophie Davis

Release Date:  November 10, 2015

In a future where time travel has been outlawed, a black market exists for anyone with the money, connections, and nerve to request items from days past...

As a Runner for one of the underground syndicates that now controls the timewaves, Stassi 2334 has seen it all: the fall of Rome, the rise of Hitler, the end of democracy, the establishment of time tourism, and the devastating consequences of it. Stassi’s job is to seamlessly slip through the past, in search of items of value to the syndicate's clientele.

Stassi's next assignment takes her to Paris in the 1920’s, in search of a lost manuscript by one of the twentieth century’s greatest writers. She and her partner, Gaige, are swept up in the City of Light during the height of fashion and culture—as alluring a locale as they’ve ever visited. But a seedier side of life lurks beneath the glamorous façade, and the pair quickly learns this run is more dangerous than any of their previous missions. Stassi and Gaige must decide how far they’re willing to go to ensure the future as they know it.

Why am I waiting on this book? BECAUSE I love Sophie Davis! Their  (They are two best friends co-writing) Talented series is epic!

What are you waiting on?

Review of Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright

Ally Marshall isn’t just a wolf shifter — she’s a Seer.

But a girl doesn’t exactly need special powers to know that Derren Hudson despises her entire kind. Disdain practically rolls off the Beta of the Mercury Pack . . . disdain mixed with a healthy dose of desire. And no matter how much the ruggedly handsome male appeals to her, this is one call of the wild she’s determined to ignore.

After one betrayal too many, Derren doesn’t have much use for Seers — except for Ally.

Forced into acting as her protector, he finds himself intensely and passionately drawn to the woman who incites his primal instinct to claim.

And when enemies target the pack, Ally’s gift may be just what the Mercury Pack needs.

Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?

Review:

YES! FINALLY! This author put out a shifter book that wasn't 5-pages or raunchy menage! I was beginning to wonder if shifter romances were becoming a myth. Suzanne Wright never fails to entertain me.
This was a really good book and well worth the read. The author wrote a compelling and complex plot that kept me glued to the pages. I liked how she included previous characters from her Phoenix Pack series, yet it's not needed to read these to enjoy this book.
I really liked Ally and Derren. They were both damaged, but not in the cliche overwritten way I'm getting sooo tired of reading. Their characters were well developed and compelling.
This was well worth reading and I highly recommend it. I'm giving this novel five glittery stars for renewing my faith in shifter romances!

Blood Moon (SMVS, #5.5) by J.L. McCoy
Numb…I was numb. I didn’t know where I was being taken, but I didn’t much care at the moment. I was far away from the horrors the last five days had afforded me and anything was better than that…than them. Bruised, bloodied, beat to shit, and my soul utterly crushed, I walked away from that middle-of-nowhere airstrip in Podunk Purgatory a complete shell of the person I once was. I had experienced hell on earth and was shocked I’d lived through it. The things those monsters did to me…well, I was sure I’d have nightmares about my first night in captivity for the rest of my life. Certain experiences can change a person and I knew without a doubt that I would never be the same again. You could only take so much away from a person before there wasn’t anything worthwhile left.

This amazing anthology includes:
